How is Roger's synopsis damning Mighty? Because some of the statements don't live up to your standards of Politically Correct?

Pate, you might learn a different view as your daughter grows up in this world, and tells you what she sees. I know I did.

Roger, I'm confused. Was it okay for L to post this picture, but not okay for Jaybro?

I think some, but definitely not all, of the females have a low tolerance for the crude or crass, so do some guys.

I think JustTheMaid's point about stalking is more important. It happens to guys too when someone gets a bug up their ass, but it probably happens to females proportionally more often--why I don't know--I'm surprised that T*R still posts here considering she's been the target of at least a couple ST denizens that disliked her and decided to devote themselves to letting her know it.

Well, Pate has exposed the true method: all of the posts I copied are based on Shakespeare's plays.

As everyone can attest, Shakespeare is the perfect hiding place since he more or less invented our complete list of human characteristics and relationships.

My other choice was to use the Bible, but Jaun beat me to it.

Wanda, I don't think that there is anything wrong with the picture that Jaybro posted per se.

I only compare the intent of the picture on a thread started by a female climber commenting on our collective misogyny. Jaybro’s answer to the original question seems to be either that the female ST campers are transsexuals or that they should be. Either that or Jaybro was just having sexual fantasy and posted on the first thread on the page.

i don't know. that south face of half dome thing brought out the best of all the participants, and each conducted themselves to great credit. my respect grew for each side in a great dialectic which reflected my own inner conflicts. we can rise above this stuff, coz and dr both showed the way, unless i was just vulnerable to what i remember as well reasoned intercourse seasoned with respect. no doubt it had passion.

maybe i disremember, better go check

Hooblie...I was sorta joking there. ;-)

It's one thing to have differing opinions and hash them out with respect and patience--something which takes effort. It's another to drop into cliches and "always was, always will be" attitudes with closed minds. The climbing threads have been worked out with tolerance and respect IMHO.

Roger...I get the feeling Jaybro was pulling his "I'm really in touch with my feminine side, too, ya know!" card. He's not the sort to disrespect anyone.

Mighty Hiker: "Yes, we're mostly grownups, and yes the world isn't always sugar and spice. That doesn't mean we have license to be rude, gross, or harass others."

Amen to that statement.^^

L, I know that about Jaybro. Pretty much the same for Locker. Even Pate feels justified in stating the obvious.

But the most offensive things in one circumstance make for some of the best punch lines in another. And every effective insult is partly or potentially true.

Not knowing the differences among circumstances amounts to not knowing how to speak our common language. We excuse non-native speakers when they insult us and we all excuse native speaking imbeciles. Everyone else is held accountable.

I have a talent for stating the obvious.
Or so my Mom tell me.

I thought this place has always been a sausagefest, with sprinkles of femininity thrown in here & there.
I prefer the other deli, though.
