I was lounging in the tub with my wife on Friday night. We were reading and talking together, and suddenly it hit me HARD! After more than thirteen years of marriage, I love her more and more. She is so beautiful, affectionate, thoughtful, kind, intelligent, articulate, sensitive, strong, loyal, humorous, and, amazingly to me, she genuinely loves me despite my many faults. We share a bond that is beyond description, and even "soul mate" seems trite to describe it.

I thought then that I really should "shout it to the world." Dana, I LOVE YOU!!! Thank you for being with me!!!

I don't have a wife, so I'm not so appreciative.

I hope the first few responses are not indicative of the whole community's level of cynicism. If if they are, that is indescribably tragic. I am honestly sorry to hear it. But, surely there are other "pink clouds" out there. Regardless, this one is my story.

You just got to get back up off the mat. I ran into some pretty nasty little vixens in my single years only to strike gold with the nicest woman in the world, my wife Sarah. Cheers to the good ones.

Oh well... if some want to grumble the rest of us can fill the gap with appreciation! So much in all of our lives to appreciate EVEN though everyone's past has some dark times.

I appreciate your wife too!

t*r hoping that thing worked out. Ah well. At least you're a student and there are so many fish in that sea. And you have that cool new phone to be happy about.

11+ years for us (of marriage, 21+ of relationship, minus a few 'breaks' before we were married). My wife rocks.

An affirmative thread like this is definitely worth a bump on a forum full of a fair amount of blind vitriol.

30 years together this coming Jan. I know of what you speak madbolter. It' just keeps getting better. However, 50% of marriages end in divorce. What most youngsters are not aware of, is that a marriage is a legal contract. One that if it was truly spelled out fully on paper, few would sign. So get a lawyer and a solid pre-nup before you jump off the cliff is my advice. If you can't decide how you would split the sheets when you are madly in love and getting along so well, how could you ever expect to do it when you are angry at each other?

she sews my tattered clothes and doesn't baulk when i take the new clothes she buys me to goodwill.

she is our cheerleader when our 2 year old and 4 year old team up on us with avalanches of emotions.

she plants our garden and tends our chickens and prepares enriching meals most nights.

she receives my batch of coffee with a smile even though i probly didn't add enuf cream.

she keeps beers in the fridge and clean underwear in my drawer.

she insists that i go climbing when she see's the need in my eye.

she makes a beautiful home, turning the bread that i knead into handsome pastries.

she works way harder than i do. and keeps a better attitude through it all.

my wife. whom i love and appreciate and lean on in order not to fall down.

best of all she teaches our daughters how to be beautiful within and without.

I know about the bad ones too, so I can sympathize with the recently (or not so recently burned). My first wife started sleeping with her boss (ironically, who then dumped her to return to his own wife). I know the burn. That's part of what makes the last thirteen years so sweet!

Congrats to those with many more years than me!!! Always more and more to look forward to.

Good on you, Richard! You have achieved something that many of us try, but few can succeed.

I think the best story you told me, was where you had to decide between losing your job, or standing up for what was right. You talked it over first with your wife, and you decided to stand firm.

And you f*ckin' got fired, too!

So you don't have that jive-ass job, but you've got one bitchin' wife! So good on you, mate!

Walked past Wings of Steel today. Couldn't even see it, dude - it's so thin.......
