Couple of pictures of my new pack from Cold Cold World.
Pack weighs in at less than 1.5 #. Material is Spectra ripstop. Shoulder harness is off a full size CCW pack for the extra padding required on heavier loads. Some where above a 35L in my 21" back size.
Old school Chouinard Fish pack bottom (weather beaten orange) and a custom Ozone (new bright red).
New pack's bottom panel.
And the pack showing the obvious S shaped back panel.
Loaded with 37# of climbing rope and 2 one liter bottles in the lid.
Featured:

Just an observation (please don't feel like I'm picking on you) but I would never pack half a gallon of water in the lid of my pack. Makes it way top heavy (unless I'm carrying bricks) and awkward to carry. You should have the heaviest items down near the waist. I know this is probably just to show how great the pack is for holding stuff, but demonstrating that I can put two one liter bottle in the lid doesn't do anything for me from a sales pitch standpoint.
Just sayin'...

Spectra ripstop Vs. Ballistic (1050 or so)
Which is better ie: more durable?

you know.... if his rack is in the bottom of the pack I'm not so sure he didn't put one of the lighter things on top. It sounds like everything in that pack is heavy.
Russ, I'll bet the Ballistic is more durable. But CCW really tries to make their stuff light so the real question might be how to consider a weight to durability constant. Not that I wanna get all technical... just making a general point.
IT's called the Ozone?

What ever this one is called it is not an Ozone. Totally different pattern than an Ozone.
Basic Ozone is an awesome pack. I use one myself.
Ozone in red ballistics with a few minor changes including a totally different lid pattern on the right. The Ozone on the left, again in red ballistics, has some fairly major additions/changes from the basic Ozone. The black Spectra pack is a totally different animal from either previous pack in design and basic pattern and is again, a bit bigger than the previous packs. Subtle differences to be sure but no question different.
No question the Spectra rip stop is not the equal of ballistics nylon for long term durability. I wanted to see just how light Randy could make a pack that would be "durable enough" for my own use.
2 liter lid? How much water you carry and where is up to you of course. This one is designed as a simple/modern alpine climbing pack. Water certainly IS the heaviest thing I carry in the actual pack but typically it goes fast. Bladders freeze up where I generally climb so it has to be in bottles. But from my own perspective having a lid that will hold two 1 liter bottles with sleeves on them is important to me at least for the walk in. Climbing, they typically go inside the pack body.
Cost was $150. A steal imo. Available? I suspect it is. Describe the pack as the "black Spectra, retro alpine pack" to Randy and ask him to sew one up for you.
I like this one enough to have another just like it done in ballistics.

I’ve owned my Chernobyl since ’93 and it’s held up very well, made out of the 500 ballistic. It did take a 500 foot tumble once full of ropes and water bottles on to some talus and a 4 " tear was the only damage.
I repaired it with what I had on hand a tube of seam grip and a bike inter tube….hasn’t blown out yet.
