I remembered my vaseline for the "unplanned bivy."

My partner remembered his Vicks Vapo-Rub for the "unplanned bivy."

I didn't like anything at the Yosemite Grocery Store anyways.

Denny's breakfast is pretty good for dinner.

Those kids/dogs/grandmas in the car need to toughen up... a hot day never hurt anyone.

My main reason is that at some point it becomes more scary to go down than it is to go up.

i agree with ontheedgeandscaredtodeath,
> at some point it becomes more scary to go down than it
> is to go up.

i simply trust my fingers and feet more than rap slings -- especially the dull dusty faded ones (a reference to both my fingers and the rap slings).

that and too many excuses soon lead to running an 8K in a 10K race, or mowing just half the lawn. a slipperly slope.

^,,^

(thank Bobo i don't have a lawn -- i've got boulders and bushes)

The first night on the wall on the Trip, six pitches up, feet dangling off the portaledge, warm beer in hand, my partner looked at me and asked,

"If we could bail right now, would you go for it?"

My reply; "Hell yeah."

Ground grip can be pretty overwhelming.

Fortunately all the pitches below us were overhanging and the top looked like the easier option.

That's one of the things I miss about doing FA's in the North Cascades. By the time you hike/bushwhack into the places remote enough to pick a line, it seems like a huge waste of time and energy not to go for it.
Plus, the partner would never allow it.

2006: Tom is at the bridge. With a telescope.

2007: Tom will be at the bridge. And learned how to post reports.

2008: Won't be down before Tom gets to the bridge. And he puts photos in his reports.

2009: Tom awards bail of the day and based on the zodiac carnage we wouldn't win.

Tom, thanks for being such a motivating partner! ;)
