so... to add to the shame of being schooled on the nose last summer, I dropped my wedding ring while bailing from the stovelegs. (I know i should have lefte it in the car)
Since the imitation silver replacement that I bought in reno has already worn out, i thought i might post to see if any gear scavengers found it. It dropped from the nose rap route ath the 3rd or 4th anchor, and should still be clipped to a bd neutrino biner
(don't worry, not only is my wife still with me, I'm having another go at the nose this summer)

i just tie mine around my neck with some 3mil or so... really no chance of losing it, and id rather not leave it at home..

Bummer. Its probably been used in a bear wedding ceremony by now. Time to recharge your tranquilizer gun.
Years ago, I threw down my car keys to someone from the top of a 150 foot spire in the Needles (in S.D.) The keys landed in the dirt and low scrub near the designated catcher. As far as I know, they've never been found. The car stayed on the roadway while a new set was ordered from the dealer. I searched a whole lot that year and again every year for several more years; the area in which they landed isn't all that big.
I figure the mountain goats got 'em; fortunately, they don't drive.

Chucked a full backpack off the summit of Pyramid Peak in 1996. Goretex, fleece, food, water, helmet, axe, car keys, wallet, license, cash, credit cards, girls' phone numbers, etc etc etc. Thought I'd drop it onto a ledge to make a little downclimb easier. Rolled off the ledge, slowly, out of view, into view, out of view, smaller and smaller, down a huge scree slope with cliff bands, 4,000 feet down into some river valley I don't even know how to approach. Minutes went by and I still could see a tiny dot bounding occasionally into view as it continued down. Made me feel pretty alone, won't soon forget that. Hitchhiked into Aspen wet, cold, with a raging hunger, thirst, and about 75 cents in my pocket. Somewhere there's a marmot wearing my jacket and running up bar bills on my Visa.

My wife knocked the diamond out of her ring while working at the barn. Called me frantic. I told her to sweep up all of the dirt in the area and bring it home. Being a dirt floored barn, she brought home two muck tubs filled to the rim, about 50 gallons worth of dirt.
I made a sift out of screen and wood and sat down in the basement for 2 hours. Found the diamond at the bottom of tub #1. A diamond never looked better than that moment.
Had her 4 prong Tiffany setting replaced with a bezel setting the next day.

Climbing West Crack in Tuolumne about 10 years ago I was reaching into the cracks on the overhang section above the first belay bolts and the altimeter/watch I was wearing went airborne. Somehow I was watching its trajectory and saw the area at the terminus... we came back to the base to collect some stuff after the climb and I searched the landing area... found it. However I had written that watch off never believing I'd recover it. I don't wear watches since then.

I hate having anything at all on my hands - watches or rings. But I particularly despise the feel of rings and can't even imagine climbing with one on; gives me the willies just thinking about it. Fortunately I have an understanding wife who loves rings and wears enough of them for both of us. I have had a bunch of watches over the years, but would always take them off and rub my wrist whenever I sat down anywhere and so pretty much every single one of them ended up as tips in one restaraunt or another before I quit buying them. I just use my cell phone for the time these days.

I am the same way, Healyje, except about the watch part. We had a single ring ceremony because I would literally never have worn one.

That actually happened on the day of my third wedding anniversary; freaky, huh? But it was only the middle finger tip. The ring fingers remain intact.

I pawned my wedding ring in Toronto last summer. They weighed it and gave me the price for "scrap gold". Best damn fourteen bucks I ever got.

My first one was lost water skiing. I still have the second one. Fortunately my wife was at a bachelorette party and was really drunk when I told her. Good thing I didn’t lose her.

My partner dropped my point and shoot Olympus off the 3rd pitch of the Rostrum last summer. What do all you ladies do with your engagement rings while climbing (going on a long roadtrip with my soon to be fiance). I think I would feel nervous leaving it in the car as my family has had a couple of cars stolen, I am poor, and the ring was expensive.

Lost mine in the house after it had been off my finger for a few years. I had it on a hook on a shelf. Both my wife and I knew where it was... then one day it was gone. We keep thinking that it will turn up on of these days. I kind of think that 'Action Boy', our three year-old son, ate it and the ring now sits encased in a poopy diaper in some landfill.
I hate wearing any jewlery and don't believe a wedding ring has any real significance. And I think we have a great marriage.
One time, [circa 1987?] I dropped a sling off the top pitch of 'Te Dum' in the Gunks. It got hung up on a thin tree branch, about 40' off the deck. It was there until mid-2002, the last time I noticed it.

Hey that sucks mate i normally clip my wedding ring onto my chalk bag.
I got down from the Leaning Tower on Monday and found that i had dropped my lucky #4 on the way down. Normaly i would just put it down to thats just life but come on my lucky number 4!
If anyone has found it please drop me an email.
Its a Wild country forged #4 with blue tape.

Sorry Dr Von,
I was up there a couple times this week and all I bootied
was a #2 Rock (pink tape?)and a BD Wiregate biner w/ blue tape.
Very convienient since I use blue tape!
