Just wondering whatever happened to Banny. Anyone have any info.? I remember meeting him (back in the early '80's) at his "palace" in Camp 4 and he was throwing all his stuff outside his tent exclaiming that, "I've been here for 5 years and haven't gotten up anything hard, so I'm leaving..." Funny, but untrue. This guy could climb freaking hard. He is a really good guy and just wondering whatever happened to him.

Wow, Banny Root.
I actually taught Banny how to belay back in 1978, hip.
It is really funny how every once in a while the phone rings and... A few years ago he was still in Santa Cruz. He was way into surfin' and doin' some routes at Pinnacles. I heard recently that he now has children. That guy was so determined and never gave himself any credit. A natural climber, athlete.
BTW his nickname was Jim May. Bannnny Rooooot.

I saw Banny at the Bob Kamps memorial a few months back. He was looking fit and healthy and seemed to be in good spirits.

Heard Banny was working with Kim Dao (the 'Daoist') out at Davenport a while ago. No confirmation, though.

The last employment that he mentioned was some type of core drilling/exploration in the Santa Cruz region.
Banny used to float routes and say "Man it was like someone was pullin' me up!" Looked like it too.
