OK, so I read the Obama statement about "supporting the rights and traditions of sportsmen"
Hey Barry baby,
it ain't just about putting a cap in Bambi's ass.
We need to be able to defend ourselves until the law arrives.
He is OBVIOUSLY an enemy of the Second Amendment masquerading as a pro-gun advocate.
Pretty two faced, but then he IS a politician.

Let's all jump to conclusions. It's so much fun, and we don't have to worry about any facts that may be relevant.
Assuming there is such a question, perhaps it is being asked at the behest of the Secret Service or FBI. Maybe they just want to know that people have the proper licences for any guns they have. They probably ask about criminal charges and convictions too, gun-related or otherwise. Seems sensible to me.
Also, perhaps it's the same form as used by Bush.
What was the exact wording of the question, again, who's asking it, and why?

The guns are one thing, but the Facebook and Myspace information is a tad over the line. I have seen silly stuff get blown so far out of proportion on those sites. The feds do not belong poking around anyones social network unless there is legitimate evidence that they are seducing kids or something...in which case they ought not to be considered for a federal position in the first place...right? Or has NAMBLA infiltrated that far up?

Obama can do nothing with respect to the 2nd amendment or gun control except sign or veto legislation and enforce existing federal law.

I'm trying to follow the links, but it is already pretty apparent that Obama is employing a Clintonesque spin "protecting" the rights of gun owners.
Remember when Bill went duck hunting?
(pretty hilarious when he later put down semi-autos only to have somebody show a picture of him shooting one)

Includes the question, "Has the registration ever lapsed?"
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the question suggest that its author assumes all guns MUST by law be registered?
I also liked the question about "how and by whom it was used". I have several guns that were made in the early 20th century that would be hard to answer for,..

Well, for one thing, by referencing it in this thread you've probably put yourself on a list of people to be disappeared as soon as that evil socialist/terrorist/muslim takes power. All that campaign talk about needing to work on problems like the economy, the various wars, medical care... that was all just smoke to hide his one true objective, which was to come and take your guns away.
Yeah, right.

Is not what the fathers of this country did truly an act of genius, performed when their very lives were at stake?
Too bad some people still feel free to ignore it with things like signing statements.
And are now starting the Chinese water torture they think will restore them to
POWER!

I think you're right.
I think he has bigger fish to fry.
The anti-gunners actually lost some steam after the crime of the millennia was perpetrated with box cutters.
Still, the second Amendment is the linchpin on which other rights depend and it is all too easy to rationalize pissing it away.
The administration makes me nervous and it is oversimplistic to say all he can do is sign or veto.

Jumping Jimmies people. Chill out. The secret service vetting is way tougher and asks way more intrusive questions. Have any of you filled out a FBI background check? My brother showed me his and they want to know everything. If you peed outside, they want to know and they want to know why.
