There have been several discussions on the UKClimbing.com forums this week about the Japanese Whaling ships in the Southern Ocean and the anti-whaling activists on board the Greenpeace ship Esperanza and the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin.

In one forum thread it was asked if the outdoor company, Patagonia, founded by climber Yvon Chouinard and based in Ventura, California, provided corporate sponsorship to Sea Shepherd.

David Hooper emailed Patagonia and asked them.

They responded:

Nay.....Greg the Candyman.

10th Feb to 3rd March in upstate NY.

Bishop later this year to finish a guidebook off.

Then I wouldn't mind hightailing it from the Pestered Isle to escape the rain.

It's horrendous just like they said it would be.

Russ has a room ready for me so I guess I'll be cohabiting wid da Fish.
