This weekend- gate locked. 'Sigh'
I'm having trouble letting go of the idea of Summer.
There was a hoppin' birthday party at Phantom Spires, 'though.

Jay, I don't know when they closed it, but it was closed when I was there a couple weeks ago (Oct 10).
After driving up and seeing the gate locked, we backed down the road and were passed by a couple climbers on foot heading to the cliff. We parked the car, racked up, and started hiking. On the way up the trail, just past the boulders, we passed the same climbers on their way out, maybe 45 minutes after we had seen them hiking in. I asked what they did and the guy says they climbed Bear's Reach. Wow, I thought, that was quick. I asked if it was dry and he says "yeah, totally dry". As we get closer to East Wall on the main trail, I notice there are no footprints in the 2-3" of snow that fell that morning. Then I see there are no signs of anyone walking along the base of East Wall. And while Bear's Reach wasn't soaked, it was definitely rather wet in places. So, WTF? Is honesty not cool anymore? Could the guy have just said "nah, we bailed 'cause of the snow, we're going to get a beer"?

It was chilly Saturday, but the sun came out in the afternoon. Bear's Reach was dry (almost). Sunday was nice, if windy at Phantom Spires. That makes it interesting on the balancy face moves.
I hadn't been to Twin Owls, True Grit, and Gorilla Rock. Next time, I'll bring some loppers for the trail.

Now if only it would snow so I could dust off my board.
Oh, wait - I'm taking 21 units. Never mind.
