I must be nuts, because besides the Facelift(two weeks away September 26th-30th) and our first museum display opening at the NPS Gallery and art auction at the Ansel Adams Gallery both on the same day(November 9th)I am doing an addition on my minuscule house to provide ample room to raise my family.
I am sure LEB will weigh in on this.

Tearing down the house.

Putting it back together again.

What it will look like. There will be two stories of covered decks off the left side that will have a view of Chinquapin Falls and the Merced River. We are going to have a giant housewarming party when it is done including a live band that will play on the deck. I can't wait. I have been planning this since I bought the house eight years ago.

Wish me luck,

Ken

Sh'it that was fast Ken.

I was back there like two weeks ago and there was only a foundation or some such.

Werner,I didn't even have a foundation yet when you were there. I had already dug the footings and removed dirt by wheelbarrow down several sets of steps with help, special thanks to Lucho who showed up on the hottest day of the summer(116). He was a champ, I gave up and soaked in the river and when I came back he was looking for more assignments. Thank you Lucho. He is going to be the guest of honor when we have the house warming party and Werner I expect to see you dance again.

fixing my car, writing another novel, getting a new credential (& a new degree), leaving no child behind, teaching my daughter to drive, rebuilding my deck, sending some projects, picking the roses, watching futurama, refinancing everything in this economic climate, getting ready to run marathon 49, being a chaufer, editing in cyrillic, convincing myself that 51 isn't that old for this crap;

Jaybro,

Good job and keep up the good work. Being a Dad is the toughest job.

Ken

Edit: LEB, I have a problem about me being rented, not about helping visualize your dream house. I can do that.

Yeah Ken, I think a lot of us have more going on then we know how to deal with; It's not like we get to choose when these things come into our lives to serve our convenince! The parent stuff (as applicable) is by far the most urgent and important, but, I look at your construction photos and I want to go check out how you're doing various things, that I need to do, one thing leads to another ... where did that time go?
cheers!

I bet if Lois and you shared a bag of wampum chips and an OE or two , in a late afternoon, deli setting, complete with local color, you'd both get psyched about additions to her estate.

Hi Jabro, I agree, why haven't we climbed together again since our initial foray? And why haven't we connected since with all our mutual friends in common? What is wrong with us?

Ken

P.S. I am looking forward to correcting that soon.

Just remodeled my sons room. New doors, molding, paint, speakers, stripped out carpet so he has old hardware floors. And somehow I always get stuck with all the work. The wife gets busy with something else. Hmmph!!!

Now I'm just helping them through another year of schoool. Never thought I would have to do the 5th grade 3 times!

Ohh, and the fun part, teaching my older son about the outdoors and the mountains. How to camp and all that stuff.

Ken, I don't see any insulation behind your partitions. We've been using Icynene foam to insulate our framing lately. Maybe drill a couple 1-1/2" holes in the sheathing at the partitions so you can get some foam in there.

Peace,

JW
