I'm using a borrowed 'puter to make this post. It is unlikely I will be available to reply to any questions until the start date so, can previous contestants please field any questions? Thx.
For those of you who are looking for a nudge to lose the chub before "fall season" really hits. This is a great motivator. What better way to get started.....but a Diet Challenge?!??!
Weigh in - Monday, September 10th (as early as 12:00 am)
Weigh out - Wednesday, October 10th (as late as 11:59 pm)
If you feel the need to debate the challenge, rules, etc. please refer to http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=302249
If you would like to join this challenge I must receive a direct email for confirmation.
You can weigh in/out at anytime on those days. Weight does not have to be disclosed to the group and/or forum unless you want to.

-No extreme dieting - such as running up and down to the Druids wrapped in cellophane wearing weights
-Winner(s) split the prize pool
-If no winners (this has never happened) - First person to hit the goal plus 2 extra pounds takes all (sudden death)

I'd love to, but I still have a beef with the rules.
Should be percentage of body weight not a flat 10 lbs for all.
Mussy has stools that weigh 10 lbs.

I just lost 6 pounds. There is no way I am ever gonna lose 10 more on top of those 6! Sorry but this is the wrong season for me to play. If you ever play at the BEGINNING of summer I might play but by the end of summer I am already relatively skinny.

Mini (aka:fagquad8guy),
Love to do the home game this weekend....can't do it though.
Heard last weekend was a full house complete with Meaty (B-Y bolt chopper guy) and Chez (non burn guy). Got an abbreviated rundown of some highlights from Jingy. Kinda glad he was the giant winner especially considering what happened to his gay ass yellow car.

Jingy---high-lights....I get it...he and Candyman and Meat went full Mothra--the quality of the game was exceptionally terrible. I can't wait to see the fotos of me and Mussy operating on Eddie-Mo's fish hook, now that was sweet action.
The yellow car needed killin'.

Poor Nature, I couldn't sign anybody up for the SFJT but I got 5 out of the 7 poker players at the game to join the Diet Challenge. Maybe even 6 if Eddie Moe joins.

Sooze, I think your problem is what gnome said. Way fewer folk

Maybe you should restructure the challenge to pay people... :-)
Financial incentives can encourage weight loss, research finds
By Nanci Hellmich, USA TODAY
Money motivates people to slim down. Overweight employees who were paid a small amount lost more weight than those who weren't compensated for their efforts, according to one of the first studies to examine such a strategy at workplaces.
"Lots of companies are experimenting with rewarding people for weight loss, and this study provides evidence that paying people to lose weight works," says Eric Finkelstein, a health economist with RTI International, a non-profit research organization in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
He teamed with researchers at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to recruit more than 200 overweight or obese employees in North Carolina. A third were given no financial reward for their weight loss after three months; a third were given $7 for every 1% drop in their body weight; a third were given $14 for every 1% decrease. The participants were not given a structured diet and fitness program.
After three months, those who received no money lost an average of 2 pounds. Those in the $7 group lost 3 pounds; those in the $14 group lost 5 pounds.
Participants in the $14 group were more than five times more likely to lose 5% of their weight, an amount shown to provide health benefits. The findings are reported in September's Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
