I've never really had climbing tee shirts, but have recently acquired a few.

During a lull in my climbing career, I did triathlons, and so have a bunch of triathlon tee shirts from the 1980s. My Ironman shirts still fit - depending on how you define fit.

Great Pacific Iron Works, white, long-sleeved. With the classic wave. And a few holes now.

probably from the '80s

I thought I had the GPIW tee with ice tools in ice, but I can't seem to find it anymore...

...my tees have a habit of disolving, especially the favorites....

steelmnkey: It may be politically correct to add a Lowe Alpine Systems shirt to your "collection".

The Kinnaloa "Wienie Roast" was my favorite, wore that until it was tissue paper. Same with FISH "This Hell Called Life".
My oldest is a Boreal Sole Survivor from early 80's.

i've got some classics from the early to mid-80's. my fave is a kinnaloa number -- head shot of watusi, bald head gleaming, with the caption "lose your hair and you'll lose our mind"...hheh.

also got a pretty good collection of "great western bouldering championship" t's

stay tuned.....i'd do it right now, but these aa meetings are wearing me out....plus the epic four hour bouldering sesh i subjected myself to today....

HOW 'BOUT them PADRES??!!??

Bob,

I had forgotten about that one with Mike on it. Pretty funny.

Padres? Aren't they still 3 games back? Don't know if they will make it to post season this year.

GPIW t-shirt from '83 or so. Cut the neck out of it (too tight). Still sorta wearable.

Have a Scarpa "free climbing team" t-shirt from the snowbird comp back in '88. Proabably a comp t-shirt from back then somewhere too.

Think I have a Wild Things blue shirt with some purple-ish lettering, very sports climbing late 80's look.

J Tree shirt, black with red? Must be late 80's.

Have an old Patagonia Hawaiian shirt with figure eights on it. Light green color, pretty cool.

Have an original Chouinard rugby shirt (yellow) that's still in great shape, as, it was always a tad too small for me and I didn't wear it much. Burly tough shirt. Long sleeves.

A friend has the old "ratagonia" shirt from Jrat. She gets comments on it every time she wears it. Couple years ago, someone offered her a 100 bucks for it on the trail in Garnet Canyon in the Tetons. Too funny. Grant in Tuolumne gear store commented on it a couple weeks ago.

Mostly wore punk rock type t-shirts back then for some reason...DK, Black Flag...

Hmm - got into climbing in the late 80s, during the Sheffield gritstone revivial. The Dave Lee Roth lycra scene was in decline, and Johnny Dawes had just made the surreal climbing documentary Stone Monkey.

Then came the Stone Monkey line of clothing. I think it was made by DMM. I still have some t-shirts, and several pairs of black leggings (not likely to wear them anytime soon on a Sierra slab in 80 degree sunshine).

Bout the same time, some rival outfit came out with Stone Donkey clothing line. If I remeber correctly, their motto was "climb like a mule".

Gonna start a thread on climbing documentaries,,,

This is from the 2nd run, 81 or 82.

I have several Canterbury rugby jerserys from 75-79. They feel
pretty heavy.
