May is turning out to be a rough month. Be safe!
"With the Lhotse disaster, the Himalayas have claimed at least 13 lives so far.
Six people perished while attempting to scale Mt Everest and four died on Mt Dhaulagiri."
These folks are only partially accounted for here, if anyone wants to look them up...

Just spoke with Mike Strassman's brother Neil (8pm, 7/4/07). No known cause of death. So sad. Mike was a true pioneer with a go-for-it kind of style. Sadly, he was preparing some topos for me for an update to our CA 14ers book. I wish I'd pestered him earlier. His achievements on the east side were pretty big. Cammo

RIP Nick Raganit, Boise, ID
Known on various internet forums as "BelaySlave", he was the belay anchor at the REI and Boise State climbing walls. After the REI wall was taken down he became a store greeter. Anybody who had anything to do with the outdoors in Boise at one time or another met Nick. Nick passed away doing what he truely loved - riding a mountain bike. He is missed.
