While we're compiling lists....

Who was or is RADDEST? Lots of people here on ST do rad stuff.

But History's Raddest Athletes have something inside that propels them forward.

They innovate new techniques and gear. They explore the earth in search of adventure. Their radness usually is not limited to one sport or discipline. And they don't seem to stop.

One climber comes to mind: Dan Osman. Climber, soloist, bicyclist. Just plain no fear. (And don't diss him here, please).

A waterman too: Laird Hamilton. Windsurfer, tow-in surfing and big wave god, and innovator of surfing's foil board. Like Dan O, defies death on many of his outings.

Nominees? Pics or videos?

I changed my mind:

Three-time Olympic gold medal winner, and greatest big wave surfer of all time. First inductee into both the Swimming and Surfing halls of fame. His big wave board was 16' long and weighed 114 lbs. "Big boards are for big waves."

I'd have to put Jello up there near the top of any "greatest" list, not because of any particular physical excellence, but because of his vision. They guy was unstoppable, mostly because he saw and believed things were possible. He had a way of asking why not when everyone else was saying impossible. Hell, he changed climbing a few times.

so many incredible and rad athletes come to mind
for me these two came to the top

One of the most radical and best loved Athlete's of all time,
the tremendous Muhammad Ali.

Huh? That guy didn't even see it coming...the worlds most recognizable sports icon, the devastating Bruce Lee.

Jeeze, he kinda looks like a serial killer in that photo.

A serial killer or a country musician. Either/or.

I thought this was about "raddest athletes", not your personal heroes/mentors, Donny. =)

There are many, but one who's story is particularly sad, especially because he was SO talented is Earl "Goat" Manigault. The best basketball player to have ever lived.

Many of those that really pushed the limits are dead, unfortunately.
Tobin Sorenson comes to mind.
