a word of warning:

the ropes on the most popular east ledges rappel route (rappel route b in the supertopo big walls guidebook) are in bad shape. pretty much every rope requires taking off your rap device and passing a knot (covering a coreshot!) toward the bottom.

if you don't have a haulbag, i might consider using the lines.

otherwise, use your own ropes.

it's probably time someone removed them before there is an accident. (sorry whoever is using them for getting to the summit to free climb. but you can use the fixed lines on rap route C in the supertopo book. but i don't know the condition of those ropes)

Rope donation time? In looking at the topo for the raps in YBW, from top to bottom:

100', 90', 100', 55' (or 150' and skip the next), 100'.

I have two or or three pieces of static i can donate. I have a 65' piece and one or two 100' pieces. will be in the ditch early june but probably won't have the time to help replace.

I, too, have at least one 50M dynamic I could donate but I won't b there until early June. Anyone heading up there willing to fix it if I ship it to you? Chris?

i have two old 30m ropes ( i think 30) that i took from my old gym. they were retired from use but they were not too bad except for a supper fuzzy sheath. probably others out there that are better, but willing to part with them, i was just going to make a rug out of em, but likely will never get around to it

I got a 11mm 60M that's in perfect shape integrity-wise, but it's been at the bottom of a haulbag for four years untouched. Ah, plus, I'm no longer in the Bay Area but overseas. Well, I guess the next time I'm in the Valley something else will need a new line...

Anyone volunteering for rope fixing duties? Sounds like we have a number of people willing to donate ropes.
