This was a great climbing shoe of the early 80's. Anyone else remember?

Gallenkamp "Scats", I recall from the 1970s. Some of the younger San Diego crew wore them. I was in Onitsuka (now Asics brand) Tigers until FiveTennies came out.

Ha ha!
I know, the reply with links can seem a bit terse.
I did, however, remember the prior conversations and a quick search brought them right up.

Correct. There was an earlier version, IIRC, which they wore called Aspens.

Dang Tar, you're good!
"Scats", right. They were amazing. I don't think my Sportiva Ganda's work as well.

Gandalf's are pretty darn pricey and Sportiva generally kicks out a good product.
That's surprising to hear, Kevin.
The original gray Five Tennie was the best overall.
