So... I escape the southeast and flee west towards JT for the weekend. While there, I run into Locker and his ilk. They offer to take me climbing in this super secret area that they claimed to be better than JT, some place called Margaritaville... WTF?! Good GRACIOUS I felt like I was back home in the south and climbing in Sand Rock for crying out loud!!! What in the world I'd gotten myself into I could only guess, but here's a brief sampling of my last day (and ONLY day of climbing - HA!!) in Joshua Tree:
Aldude??? WTF???? What's up with this place?!
Seriously, folks, an honest to goodness TR will follow as soon as I get home and upload pictures so I can post them... This is just one to whet your appetites!!!

The only Margaritaville that I want to see from this point forward is the one associated with Jimmy or Jose (or both!)
I should have stayed at Todd's party longer and hooked up with someone - anyone! - who knew the area better... Lesson learned, and I do sincerely appreciate your time and the laugh!

You're giving Joshua Tree grains a bad name by calling Margherita-ville "JT"!
Side note... did the Margherita-ville day with none other than George Meyers.... I think.... or was it George Bracsiek??? (sp) either way... oh, and the illustrious CC3. Good day out! Never went back.....
MountainMan edit: Great pic! Why is it there is always someone standing on Locker in the various pics I see of him???
Standing Strong / LEB edit: Since when did the 6 star route "Fukk the Police" need a stick clip? Did someone shoot off the first bolt or something???

Blackbird--It sounds like Locker really had the best of intentions, but...where the HELL did you shoot that godawful photo??? A place he actually took you to??? Locker, Locker, Locker!
I've climbed in many areas of Joshua Tree, and I've never in my life seen that particular spot or anything nearing that immense ugliness. Most of JTree is so unrelentingly beautiful, you can occasionally forget you're there to climb and just get lost in the views. BB, that thing you posted is so NOT Joshua Tree... Locker, what were you thinking? And man, if you're allergic to slab, why didn't you hit Hemingway, Rock Garden Valley, or the Sports Challenge area? Clean-n-Jerk is a stellar crack, among many, and there are several great face routes all around that area, too.
This photo is sooooooooo bad, it's actually funny! But not at all representative of what you'll find at Josh.

My bad, Russ... Apologies for that. You're completely correct: it was about an hour and a half/two hour drive (?!???) away from JT. Since my hotel was in JT, I kind of mentally merged the entire weekend...
I got some solid leads in in JT proper (several different areas)and even managed a lead at "that other area" of which I was proud since my tips were screaming at me to stop.
Back to the grind and the real world tomorrow, though, and I'm already dreading it... Argh!

I had a man at the airport with me?!?!?!?!?! Where?! And why did I have to carry my bag if I had a man with me at the airport?! I thought they were supposed to do that kind of stuff for ladies!
