I love the mountains.
But the sea. Growing up watching the fog drift in off Point Reyes. I was five, my eldest brother Casey and his girlfriend Peggy (now wife since 1961), took Mac, Mary and I to the seashore.
They all said, "Boy it is sure foggy out."
I said: "I don't see any frogs." They all laughed. Foggy, froggy, all the same to me.
My comprehension of speech, some of you on ST mock me, I can understand that.
So now the fog is drifting in, the beach just a stone's throw. A full moon, but because of the location, I will not see a blood moon. But the mist and the fog drifts slowly in. Every night I hear the sound of the surf. It is refreshing. I long to hear the voice of soft drifting of snow, but alas, not in southeast Ireland.
The fog is starting to envelope the full moon, I am losing sight of it.
Fishing boats in Alaska, sailing in SF Bay and Ireland, swimming and scuba in a lot of places - Caribbean, West Coast (Cali, Oregon and Washington), Ireland and Cornwall, the Med (Barcelona, Toulon, Cannes, Nice, Crete, Croatia), does it matter, because I feel like I have done squiddly. I have never been south of the equator.
I salute the high seas, and the coasts and everything in between. The perfect match would be where the mountains meet the sea.
Take care all. Safe climbing (and scuba, sailing, and kayak, flying, and walking down Fifth Avenue without being shot by the POTUS. I had to add that, hah hah).

xcCon, wrong. The Sea is not a Trump supporter.
Marlow, nice photos. There is some good climbing on Corsica. I worked in Pierrefeu-du- Var, I used to climb in the Calanques, Corsica apparently has some great climbing. I always meant to get there.

I started this thread as an homage to the sea. I pick up trash everyday, I am a member of Wexford Beach Clean Up. If I mentioned Trump, well, the guy is trash that needs cleaned up. I do not want this to be a political thread, but nowadays, how can not a serious thread about the environment be otherwise. Trump and his ilk are a danger to the environment, oceans, seas, mountains and granny's apple farm.
I just knew Drain would add some sort of silly photoshopped meme, the guy is a loser and his silly memes, sort of entertaining though, like an enema.
Please, I did mention politics, but I started this thread because I am in awe of….
the pounding surf
or the quiet laps of the waves
the seagulls crying
the sea lion (Point Reyes) that would play with us
the seals I have rescued and those I have failed
the baby dolphin, in a small tidal pool (that was different), now out to sea
the fish and seafood I have killed, ate and
the hardy sailors, fishermen scratching a living, and casual rich bums on their yachts
the tidal surge, the wave that swallows you on your board
and just watching a dolphin, popping its head out of the water as you sit in your kayak, it seems to be saying, "hello"

I worked the summer of 1977 on boats out of Petersburg, I would always see the Devil's Thumb. Never made it there though. Someday, it is high in my tick list. The "North Face", last I heard it is still repelling climbers, has it been climbed? If so, wow.
Folks, the Norwegian fjords are amazing, I have never seen the New Zealand ones (someday), but southeast Alaska, many of you are in close proximity, it is worth the trip. Super well worth the trip, make it on your tick list.
