So it was sold by "Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev." He had previously acquired the painting for $127M in 2013.

So... an undisclosed purchaser yields him a $300M profit after holding the painting for 4 years? Maybe it's legit, a great investment. But that kind of transaction can clean up a darn lot of ill-begotten gains.

It would be interesting to see who the buyer is, and how their business interests intersect. Maybe I need to adjust my tinfoil hat to clear up reception.

I see on Twitter that:
"Russian oligarch Rybolovlev, the fertilizer billionaire whose overpayment for a Trump property in Florida raised money-laundering concerns, sold a Leonardo da Vinci painting..."

I occasionally read the Krebs on Security blog. This guy has a burr under his blanket about the Russians/Ukrainians and their security breech way of earning income.

I have asked him, via comments, a few times, "what do they do with the money? I mean, one can only buy so many expensive houses, cars and hookers, do so many drugs, and order so many pizzas...." My suggested line of inquiry never got his notice, but in the last year I have pretty much gotten an idea as to where that money has been being spent. Ironic, that we, the average citizens, have unknowingly funded the things that are in the process of taking our country down.

You'd feel better if he made his money through "Speaking Fees"?

Would I fee better if a person made their money through speaking fees rather than extortion, human trafficking, and credit card fraud? Yes, I would, and I think most others would as well. But hey, criminals got to eat too!

As for the "Speakers Fees" innuendo, that statement just shows how well played we were during the 2016 campaign cycle. Because it "had" to be a cover up for something nefarious, Hillary Clinton receiving such an exorbitant amount of money, right?

What does it MATTER that the fees she earned are in the same range as many a lesser experienced man? You just go on swallowing that Checkist pablum that Fox News is telling you is not only tasty but nutritious too!

It costs a lot of money to hire 5000 Russian trolls to further addle the minds of the alt-right.
