Any idea on how to find out if my Uncle has passed away?

My Mom tried calling her brother this week, and his number has been disconnected.
She tried calling his son, and his number has been disconnected too.
He is/was 90 years old, and she feels he may have passed away.

Any idea on how to find out through public record search?

Yep, that was the right move.
Sheriff's department did a welfare check.
His son moved in with him and changed the phone number, but didn't have old number forwarded.
He appears to be still kicking it at 90 years old.

For a second I was thinking, "jeez, there's gotta be a better way to find out if someone is alive than trying to steal their government benefits."
