Hwy 190 is closed at the Balch Park turnoff. If your going to the Needles this way won't work due to a big fire in the Tule Drainage that started last night from a Car Wreck. Fire on both sides of the road and its starting to rage. 1000 acres.. Too smoky to fly aircraft! This will be one to watch! The Pier Fire

Oh crap. We have a place in Camp Nelson and were planning on heading up there on Thursday. Thanks much for the heads up since this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Fat Dad............Yea, you better check on things! They have engines doing structure protection in and around Camp Nelson right now..Mandatory Evacs...Fire is becoming a Monster!!

Inciweb and news outlets are listing Wishon as under mandatory evac. Is there another Wishon than the one up by Courtright?

Yes, there is a Wishon downhill of Camp Nelson, and to the north of the road.

Yes, Wishon is on the road that goes left by the Powerhouse up 190. I don't know why they also call it Wishon?? Its in the direct path of the fire but the fire is also on the south side of the river they are saying and headed up. I hope Ron C. is okay up there??

I've done trailwork in that area for the last 10 years, and it is massively overgrown, hot as hell, and steep terrain.

They are going to have a big problem with this.

Patrick Paul has moved to Carson City....But I do know that Alpine also was evacuated. They used the reverse 911 to get hold of people. Here's the most recent webcam photo....Its a Pyro Cumulous cloud totally from the fire!I was wrong on the past webam shot..thats not Dome Rock on the left.

Current shot from the south fork of the kaweah, looking south. The smoke and that crazy cloud were highly visible from Visalia.

Radish, with the mandatory evac there's nothing to do but hope for the best. I love the place but, even assuming I could get there, I'm not going to risk life and limb for some old furniture and some well loved winter clothing. Just glad I was up there with the wife and kids. Heard they were knocking on doors at 3 a.m. to get people out of there.
Many a good beer enjoyed here, and many good times with the family.
