He may remember you even if you don't remember him.

No. But I bet Ghost duz :-)
Well, yeah. It was where I lived for many years. Pretty much everything in my life today grew out of relationships developed on the Wreck.
And I'm not the only one. Brother Dingus was there. Ekat was there. Batten (RIP) was there. Probably a few other ST regulars, plus a few ST occasionals (Slime, for example).
He introduced me to this thing called the internet.
I did? Sh#t, I don't remember that. I remember the two of us saving our country. I remember the two of us doing some memorable climbs. I remember the two of us raising our families together. I remember naked snowstorm trampolining.
But I don't remember introducing you to the internet.
And Andy, I think you and I met on the Wreck. ST didn't exist back then, did it?

Lord Slime. Always good for biting commentary. Went to battle more than a few times.

Back in the mid 80's climbing on the internet was an E-mail list that was moderated by a guy down in SoCal who I think was either at CalTech or JPL. Unfortunately, he moderated it was a very heavy hand so I helped create rec.backcountry(I had been maintaining the bicycling newsgroup for a few years by then). A couple of years later to get more specific(I mean, seriously, who cares about backpacking unless you are also carrying a rack and a rope) we created rec.climbing.
One of my early contributions was an online free climbing guide to Yosemite's most classic climbs up to 5.11 since I couldn't climb any harder than that. By 1996 I was working 100+ hours of week at Sun Microsystems and had to let the whole newsgroup thing go.

Funny story about Eugene Miya. I sold some cycling panniers to a student at Cal Tech. When I asked where my money was the student said that he had used the panniers on a spring break bike tour, but thought they were a bit small and wanted to return them.
Eugene knew the provost at Cal Tech and gave him a call. A couple of days later a check for the full amount arrived in my mailbox.
