Howdy there all! Pardon me for the first post-- I've been living with close access to the Sierra for the first time (lived in Southern California for a while and mostly went to JTree, but now I've gone and moved up North). I spent most of the summer going to Tuolumne every weekend but now winter has come (and a strong winter it seems to be) and I am looking to liberate myself from the chossy and often unclimbable (in wet weather) walls of the Bay Area for snow up in the Sierra.
What are some good beginner winter alpinist expeditions one can do in the Sierra right now? Are any approachable from the western foothills? I’ve got glacier-travel ice axes and crampons, along with a modicum of easy winter ascents in the Italian Apennines under my belt, so I’m not looking for any hard mixed climbs just yet.

Carson Pass has some easy peaks...of course, on foot I'd wait until spring when the snow is firm and the avalanche hazards decrease.

Mt. Clark. It has a few routes to the summit. Approach from Glacier Point Rd on skis and you can be to a base camp area in a day.

clark and angel wings may not fit the bill. clark would be great as a ski in.
Are you looking for ice or just a scramble/hike on snow? Ropes and gear or just axe and crampons? Couloirs or ridges?
off hand I think Round Top, Tallac, Pyramid Peak, Eagle Lake Buttress could be good intro climbs in the Tahoe area.
I'd think there is lots of snow in the valley this season where you could find some adventurous outings. Probably some good stuff in Sequoia as well.

splitclimber: have ropes and glacier axes and crampons. So in that range (above a snow shoe walk). Appreciate what you have already listed off, will be looking into them for late March/April ascents.
