I just heard that my good friend Andrew has passed. Andrew was an avid cyclist, skier and climber. He met his life partner in Yosemite in the eighties and moved to Tahoe to raise his family. He was a very positive person and shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends. I shared many adventures with him from kayaking the Truckee River to climbing at Donner. He was always very solid. I donīt know what happened, but I do know, he will be greatly missed.

Once again we lose another wonderful positive great human being. I am shocked and saddened by this news.....Don't know what happened but my heart is heavy... RIP Andrew.... :(

Rest in Peace~ Mr Lewis...
I only met him once on the trail in Tahoe.. a couple of summers back.... His wife used to work with me in Yosemite, and sadly.. she very recently passed away from cancer...

Sad news.
During the 1970s there was a jump in the number of serious climbers and that is reflected in these obits. If you were early 20s in 1975 then you are early 60s now and mortality incidents are rising. I doubt there is a difference between non-climbers and climbers in this regard.

hey there say, jgill... sadly, just, ... we are into the age of when our folks used to say:
... just found out that 'so-and do' died...
and, we of course, would then, start to hear that very often...
not fully understanding...
well, ... until now...
sadly, too, my ex husband, just died...
the sad thing, extra, is this:
south texas mexican men, many of them die in their late 60's...
(health troubles)
i had hope, after all these years, it would have change...
:(
but for those that don't, well, the impressive:
elders in their 90's, age-wise, come from some of the old old time, hard-working home-ranch families...
'back in the day' guys...
edit:
now, of course, accidents and sudden
illness, etc, are a whole other thing...
or, nature issues, outdoors:
wish these young guys, could have the chance for older age...

I'm sorry about your ex-husband, neebee. Yes, a lot of us on this site are mortality-bound. I read the obits every day ( I still read a paper newspaper). Recently, I realized I hadn't heard from a old friend, actually my best friend back then, from USAF days. He became a respected physician and we usually talked several times a year. He died in 2011.
