I just returned from the local mall, and this female cellphone issue is out of hand. Everywhere it's yakkitty yak. I even saw three girls, walking together all on cellphones; they were probably talking to each other. Now and then you see a guy on one, but the ratio has got to be one to a hundred. It's too late; the technology has overcome common sense. The only solution now is more tech. Implants are the only solution. That Bluetooth thingy should be passe. For all females, a little receiver should be implanted in the area of the brain that controls linear, rational thought. I'm sure there is some space there. It could be hooked up to the nerve in the ear in some fashion, and a little antenna could be implanted in such a fashion that it allows the lady to reach up to the top of her head and pull it up. There could be a small pluggin under the hair so she could recharge the battery with a standard 110 outlet. This way the girls could constantly be in touch with all her girlfriends, and both hands would be free so she doesn't run into a palmtree or the rear end of my car.

In all fairness, in times of residential instability in the last few years I was a cellphone guy, they have their utility. The time to watch out is when all the other bases are covered and they are still a major lifestyle outlet. Mine spends most of it's time turned off.

I don't have a land line, just a cell. Don't use it all that much, but it's there if I need to make a call. Turn it off if I don't want to be in contact. No problem.

Got it when I was on a trip and needed to call some friends because I'd forgotten some gear ( a common occurrence with me). Ended up driving almost all the way home because I couldn't find a pay phone.

One thing I really don't like is to talk on the phone when I'm driving unless I use the headset. Too hard to concentrate on the road and also drive. Maybe it's a coordination thing, but there's lots of other folks out there who aren't paying attention when they're driving.

I don't have a legit cell phone but sometimes use the prepaid ones.

Locker, pay phones suck! Even with a calling card they start you off with a 60-90 cent surcharge and you have little privacy.

How many times have I used some payphone in the freezing, howling wind in Joshua Tree town, feeling like a refugee?

Every tool has it's use and overuse.

I think those girls just pick up their phones and pretend to talk when they see Woody coming.

I met a girl in law school who used to do that karl. Any time she didn't want to talk, to a specific person, or just in general, she'd pretend to be on the phone. 100% of the time in line at starbucks.

Sounds like WoodySt is having 'girl problems'.

Not the women's faults, just their nature, no doubt a man invented the thing. Yet a man bashes the users for doing what only what comes natural, hmmm the war of the sexes is alive and well, wonder how halliburton isn't somehow profitting,,,

Better having them yakitty yak at the mall than on the highways, though, like they're not.

Just be glad it's not you on the other end,,,

They say the average man speaks about 2000 words a day and the average woman about 3500 or somthing.

If it makes you feel any better woody, I agree with you. At my job the admins are always walking around talking to themselves with those ear bud things going...Pretty bizarre. Or maybe they are just afraid of me...

It's 2000 for males and 7000 for females. Females contribute far more CO2 to the atmosphere than males. It's been scientifically demonstrated that if the ladies would say nothing for one year, we'd enter another cooling trend; the glaciers would grow and skiing, ice-climbing etc. would all improve.

my friends always yell at me cuz half the time i leave my phone at home, or in the car, or don't know where it is... i just don't like to be tethered to anything. also it's doing this really awesome thing right now where i don't get my voicemails until a bit later... technology is so rad. good times.
