Started the past trip with a couple of bolted routes on the southwest end of Little Hunk that are not in any book I can find or on the mountain project site. Both lines are to the right of Roofing Company/Monkey Business. Ran into Aldude who said they were 10b, 10c.

Any one know the names of the routes, star consensus, and if those are the correct ratings? (I enjoyed them, but what do I know.)

So hotspur, went there the next day to refresh my memory.... left route - 10a.....right route - 10c+. BTW, technically on the SE and east face of Little Hunk.

Hey Al, just sent you an e-mail. Did the photos of Emma come out, any chance you could forward them to me? Do you know the names of the routes on the Little Hunk?

No problemo Joe, recharging batteries as we speak - then will send. My funky camera expends power even when USB is attached! Asked Todd about those routes.....he was to busy chasing Beck around to give me an intelligible response.
looking sketchy there...

Actually, these routes are on the east face of Little Hunk though (as Al points out), The Maw, heads up onto a southeast facing block.

2615 The Maw, 5.10a * The route on the left with 4 bolts; 2 bolt anchor. FA: 1/03, Bob Gaines, Yvonne Gaines, Patty Kline.

2616 The Paw 5.10c ** (Sport) the right route 4 bolts, 1 fp, 2 bolt anchor/lower off. FA: Bob Gaines, Pat Dennis, 1/03.

Will be in Vol. 2 Central Joshua Tree, due out 2007.

Is it just me or does Bob Gaines put in a sh#t load of routes. I am almost positive he does his routes ground up, but what do I know.

Some of the stances on his routes are wicked.

How the f*#k do you stance on 5.11?

Thanks much for the info. Yeah, east face, southwest end of LH. Thought both routes most excellent. The Maw, delicate requiring balance and a gentle touch in multiple spots. The Paw, more of a short stiffy. Hence, the names I suppose.
Thanks again.

I suspect the Maw refers to bridging the boulder on the upper section.

Bob can drill where others fear to clip!
