Looking for anyone that's used them for a guided El Cap climb. I know they are MORE than capable of safely guiding the RIGHT client. I'm looking for a first hand account of what's allowed as far as leading on aid, etc.. My next step would be to call and ask up YMS upfront, but I'd like to speak with a few people that have used them beforehand.

I thought someone had posted up a trip report awhile back, but couldn't find it.

Thanks!

Grrrr. Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that wasn't the case, but I can understand why. I'm willing to haul and jug every pitch but have a hard time justifying cashing out what little retirement I have to do it.

Thank-you sir!

On guided trips, yes. On a donation trip with the Woot-Woot master, I'm sure he'll let you lead some bolt ladders and pack your own bowls, but then you'll be that guy.

Sounds like you should try finding someone to mentor you versus hiring a guide

ptpp is always looking to enlist a new victim.

There's a guy in Sacramento named Chongo who could save you a bundle in
guide fees plus he's a certified retirement counselor.

HAHA. That's exactly the info. I was looking for. Finding a mentor is exactly what I'm looking for. Unfort. it's hard to sell yourself when you can't spend a lot of time in the valley beforehand. I'm trying to find someone that's absolutely serious and reliable. I'd like to connect on the telephone so they know where I'm at, and where I need to be beforehand. I think you can a better idea of who a person is via a phone conversation vs. email. How can I say this "delicately", if someone wants to mentor me, and take me on an easier(easier for them, tougher for me) aid climb (i.e., Lurking Fear, zodiac, etc.) than what they'd normally spend their time doing, I'd love to give them a "gift" for doing so.
