Where do I find Excel, Word and Power Point in Windows Ten?
I had a boatload of files in those programs and it seems like it was all deleted when I upgraded.

You should be able to search for them from the start menu if they are not readily apparent. Alternatively, you can reinstall them using your old Office key.

Found MS office but there is nothing there, including the subject programs, let alone my folders.
I really need to find my folders; alot of technical and professional data. I have most of it backed on a flesh drive but not all.

If you truly upgraded and did not reformat it should all still be in there somewhere. Try searching for your file names.

HAHA eKat; I'd find that funny if I wasn't having problems finding my data.
HDJ, I'll try doing search per your recommendation.
I'm really freaking out.

So Inserted my flAsh drive and the computer recognized the drive but none of my files show up and still can't find them.
I stll cant find MS Excel, Word or Powerpoint programs. They don't show up under the MS Office folder in Windows ten. Just a bunch of gobbly gook code.
I did a search for my files and got nada. If I can't find them on the hard or flash drive I am royally screwed.
edit: maybe I did inadvertently refomat; there were a lot of screens that popped up after I upgraded and I pretty much clicked on them all, but it does not seem like the computer would not read the files on the flash drive.
I am far from an IT tech. Every time I upgrade I have nothing but problems.

1) make sure all of your windows 10 updates done (yes, it matters)
2) if nothing shows up then reinstall office
unfortunately, the 10 upgrade isn't always seamless.

if that doesn't work take it to a reputable place and have them try and find the data. It may cost you some money but getting your stuff will be worth it.

The first thing they always tell you before upgrades is "Backup your data"
Anyways ... look for your Microsoft office program folder to see if your office program runs correctly.
Does it, if not you need to reinstall the MS Office suite.
Your office data files will be where you originally saved them before you upgraded.
Where was that???
Do you remember?
I always save my office files and data on a separate hard drive.
My operating system and programs is only on a fast small ssd drive.
Everything else is stored on 5 other drives ....

I did the free Windows 10 upgrade on my desktop awhile back. I didn't like it since some of my old software didn't work and MS wants you to go web based for everything. So I undid the install and back where I want to be. Perhaps you can restore to your old OS.
I do use W10 on a little laptop I use when mobile. It's OK.

You should have stuck with windows 7.
It's robust, solid and has been around for years.
Never upgrade unless absolutely necessary especially Microsoft's garbage.
Why do think they are pushing Windows 10 upgrade free?
I won't go into it because it's too much to write .....

More Windows Ten here.

Can't agree with more with Herr Braun. Discs are very inexpensive these days.
Always back up twice before embarking on a major change.
Windows 7 note.
Be careful of Windows Installer corruption. I have a lot of experience with Microsoft products (even worked for MS as a consultant one time) and I have not been able to solve this one.
I have actually purchased a used laptop to get a clean system to start with for $80. Also will enable me to have 2 full system clones.

I have an exact cloned hard drive (ssd) both of the software and the same hardware model of my main operating system drive \
that I can swap into my computer in case my present drive goes down.

I haven't installed any software that required msiexec.exe in quite some time. So I cloned by corrupt system into my backup computer.
I will now have 3 systems with exactly the same configuration (everything: display, keyboard, memory, discs).
I got careless a while back and lost a 1.5 TB disc full of stuff.
Everybody makes mistakes once (hopefully). The only time it's happened to me either at work or at home.

zB, don't feel bad. I was playing with the menus in my sis-in-law's nice Sony camera and had
an epileptic fit and re-formatted the chip, which had a load of pics on it of her trip to France to
visit her son. Luckily I was able to buy software and got about 80-85% of her pics back.
DOH!
So, while I've been quite happy with Win 8.1 my research shows that it was really designed
for tablets and that my desktop will run faster and better with 10.

A little off topic, but a couple of years ago I turned on my desktop with Windows 7 after the latest update and discovered that MS had deleted my Visual Basic 6 language with which I had created over a hundred math programs. I tried re-installing but VB6 would not install, with a message of "incompatible". I tried VB.NET but couldn't understand anything about it so gave up and located another Basic program on the internet, which has worked fine. I am not fond of MS, and will uninstall Windows 10 when they shove it onto my computer.

Windows 10 is filled with MS "phone home" malware. You can turn (most of) it off through various walk-throughs that you'll find on the Interwebs. But the next time you do any update, it will all be turned on again. MS provides no way to disable the malware, and they surreptitiously turn it back on again if you manage to turn it off.
If you don't care about MS having gone to a whole new level of "phone home," then more power to you: Upgrade and enjoy. I'll stick with Windows 7 until that is no longer viable. By then, I'll be able to do everything I care about on some flavor of Linux (it's almost there now).
