Registration of Jews. Err Muslims..whatever.
I am really sad that this guy has even slightly been taken seriously as a possible president of this nation.
Scary stuff..far scarier than any terrorist ever considered being.
And folks think calling republicans fascist is ridiculous non-serious rhetoric?
http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/11/20/donald-trumps-call-for-muslim-registry-denounced-by-democrats/
NEWTON, Iowa — Donald J. Trump’s remarks Thursday that he would “absolutely” institute mandatory registration of Muslims drew broad condemnation from Democrats Friday and several of his Republican rivals even as some candidates have moved further to the right on national security in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.
Mr. Trump was asked about the issue by an NBC News reporter and pressed on whether all Muslims in the country would be forced to register. “They have to be,” he said. “They have to be.’’
When asked how a system of registering Muslims would be carried out — whether, for instance, mosques would be where people could register — Mr. Trump said: “Different places. You sign up at different places. But it’s all about management. Our country has no management.’’
Asked later, as he signed autographs, how such a database would be different from Jews having to register in Nazi Germany, Mr. Trump repeatedly said, “You tell me,” until he stopped responding to the question.

Populism and Republicans don't go well together. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff and the Red Scare show what happens when they do.
To me, Trump's views - impoverished as they are in actual policy prescriptions - form the antithesis of conservatism. Clasical conservatism advocates the free movement of goods, services and people, and oppoistion to barriers to same. Trump seems to embrace the very sorts of governmental interventions that promote those barriers. I still don't expect Trump to receive the nomination, because eventually the party will be left with a choice between Trump and a candidate with substance, but he will have done such damage to the party that he will virtually guaranty the election of a Democrat. If he somehow obtains the nomination, I, for one, will not vote for him.

I rarely post on political threads and more rarely make one.
Trumps statement is so far beyond anything acceptable ..I still have some difficulty beleiving he suggested it..I would have suggested that such a thing would be inpossible in America when I was young.
Flabbergasted..except that the BS has been getting worse for a while and the stage has been a long time setting.
I seriously feel like I just got transported to mid 30's Germany and some guy named Hitler is running for election.
No not acceptable ..
please take this seriously..I wish I knew how to write better.

Clasical conservatism has very little to do with the modern republican party.

Trump has made a living (with regards to the polls) by making outrageous statments and the media that it generates. With Ben catching up to him in the polls, I think he casting around for the next big thing. His attacks on Ben didn't do it. Next up.

Perhaps you are correct spectre...I truly hope so. If so that NBC reporter and the editor should be fired.
I will delete this thread if so. I'm no fan of Trump even if this is misrepresented and untrue but wouldn't feel my OP is warranted.

REPORTER: Muslims specifically, how do you actually get them registered into a database?
TRUMP: It would be just good management. What you have to do is good management procedures. And we can do that.
TRUMP: Different places. You sign 'em up at different -- but it's all about management. Our country has no management.
Trump doesn't even know what the reporter is talking about by the end of the conversation.
Trump never suggested a database be kept. The Reporter made up the question to try and trick Trump.
That's just my take on the story. Think whatever you like.
So...
You are claiming Trump wants to sign 'em up at different places
And not keep a database?
Yeah, right....
Ever hear of this?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

Thanks John. But I actually am beginning to think the Republican Party might nominate him. I still give Rubio an edge in the long run, but the days before primaries are beginning to run out, so another candidate needs to make a move soon.
We need an intelligent two party system, and I wish your party would do better.
Climbski: I think I called him a loathesome pos in another thread because of his comments about Muslims, so yeah, I agree.
