That'll teach you to keep the rope in front of your leg.
(I assume you fell with the rope behind your leg?)

Rope burns suck for sure. Big ones, like yours, much more so.
That's gonna be there a long while. Ouch, heal up. Care to share the story?

Long story short; lowered Brian Becker on a hip belay in Garden of the Gods. Oouch.

Burned all the hair off your legs.

I don't have pictures but I sustained rope burns to my fingers on both hands just above where the half finger leather gloves ended...almost to the bone. I was working the rail at a Theatre and we were doing Cats. Huge heavy set piece that I kept getting s h i t from the stage manager for not bringing in fast enough.

I sent it winging in, all pissed off at getting gaffed by the guy, and couldn't stop it in time before it slammed into the deck, even though I held on until I was pulled off my feet trying to stop it. My fingers looked like hamburger and took forever to heal. I got to go home early. I will never do that job without full leather gloves again.

edit:

I know...no pics, it didn't happen but my fingers were way worse than anything shown so far. I still have a little loss of sensitivity from like 10+ years ago

Had rope burns with the hip belay. Using a gold line would increase your chances. It also built character.

You don't know rope burns until you've rapped off an overhang using the Dulfersitz

I know what that feels like. This was about a week later, the scab would crack whenever I walked somewhere so it took ages to heal.
