Does anyone listen to this group? They are considered a gothic metal band with themes of doom, depression, ect., I really I like this group and just wondered if anyone else in Supertopo land listened to them.

Thanks, Karen

"They are considered a gothic metal band with themes of doom, depression..."

I don't think this description does the band any justice as it doesn't mention vocals or melody, which Tristania provides in spades. Normally I prefer loud guitars to singing, but bands like this force me to reexamine my tastes. The lead singers both male and female are incredible, the songs are excellent, and the choruses are so catchy that once entrenched they are hard to remove from one's mind. And yet the music is hard enough that its absolutely perfect for the drive to the crag before climbing, no doom or depression here. My last two trips to Yosemite we listened to the album Rubicon, which I consider a masterpiece.

There's a whole genre of similar bands that are excellent and worthy of exploration. Its sad that in the USA these bands aren't more more popular.

If you like Tristania I strongly recommend you check out Nightwish, particularly the live album "Showtime Storytime". The lead singer is absolutely not of this world. Words can't describe this:
