Real rock bolts (and a modern mullet!). What, exactly are those bolts doing?

Let's zoom out and look at the Big Picture. YIKES (the Real Rock Bolts, not the mullet!)!!!

Well, there were some signs on the way in... I suppose that's one way of dealing with the hazard?

Where DOES one find crazy rock bolts on cliffs AND mullets in this day and age? HINT: neither is uncommon here, although this is the only cliff that sports both real rock bolts and climbing rock bolts on the same piece of cliff (that I'm aware of!)

No way.

Real southern climbing has giant bolts that are painted around, and spray painted numbers so you don't need a topo

And during the summer you pour sweat just putting on your shoes.

If you look at the highway project at Snoqualamie Pass you will see tons of those real rock bolts in the area where they are trying to stabilize the rock faces along the highway. There is also some of the mesh like in c wilmot's pic. That or they are for holes for dynamite. Just kidding.

It's definitely a Southern Thing.

But your accent is all wrong. You're still too far north!
