Oh, come on. We all know it was faked. He never went to the Moon; they miscalculated and went to Mars instead; and they're too embarrassed to admit it. You can't trust the government. I also heard, from a certain professor at BYU, that they found Jimmy Hoffa's body.

Forget Armstrong. The best words spoken on the moon were by the very short Pete Conrad, the third man to walk on the moon, who had to make a big jump from the bottom rung of the ladder.

From Wikipedia (that most trustworthy of sources):

"After stepping onto the lunar surface, Conrad joked about his own small stature by remarking:

'Whoopie! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me.'

He later revealed that this was in order to win a bet he had made with reporter Oriana Fallaci to prove that NASA did not script astronaut comments."

Of course, Conrad's words were nearly matched by Buzz Aldrin's fist-pumping frat-boy "Hell, yeah! HELL, yeah!" [as reported by the Onion].

So it is definite then?

He did not say, "One giant leap for Manny Klein."
