It's a little odd that major media have gone with the description "extreme hiking". Clearly these guys are using both hands and feet, so I think "extreme crawling" is better terminology. I will fire off a letter to the lamestream media with this suggestion.

Today has been super crazy for me... all the media from network TV to the Times of London are on the story and it seems they all have my email! Fortunately the guys are taking a day off so I can sit here in my hotel room and spend hours on end trying to explain to the media, who are very clueless, just what the deal is up there. The CBS "hikers" thing was ridiculous ... just shows how poorly they researched the story. The big gun on Big Ups instagram is my spare lens and it seems to be just what the doctor ordered.. We all hang out in the meadow and talk sh#t.. good fun.. nice guys and we all try to help each other as much as possible.. the way it should be because we all want the same thing and love climbing especially on ElCap!! Rest today for the guys ... they are in the fight... we expected them to have hard days and their early success was unexpected.. but the old Cap sometimes gives you a little and then takes a little back. Like I say.. "you never have it made, until you have it done" The Doors had a great lyric I like to quote from Road House Blues... "The future's uncertain, and the end is always near". This climb is not in any way in the bag and that is what we like to see.. uncertainty breeds adventure.

Don't waste time trying to "enlighten" the press. very few of them actually care. remember next week they will be all over a story about a three legged dog in Iowa that looks like it is smiling and sings like a Sinatra.
Just feed them quick talking points. Think "what would I want the headline to say?"
