Here's one example:

Dylan writes in the lyric for "When the Deal Goes Down" on his new work, "Modern Times"

"More frailer than hours
these precious flowers"

Timrod wrote in "Rhapsody of a Southern Winter Night" back in the 1860s:

"A round of precious hours
Oh! here, where in that summer noon I basked
And strove, with logic frailer than the flowers"

Certainly this example is not plagarizing. Do you know of other examples that borrow more?

looks like two people managed to rhyme 'flowers' with 'hours' and added 'frailty' for some poetic poignancy?

Big deal.

Chaz,

Sure, and even boosted a line or two. A friend of mine wrote a great song, and was horrified to have it pointed out to him he snagged an entire line from a Dylan classic (he honestly didn't realize it, and re-worked the line).

But, is what Dylan doing here plagarizing, as some are saying?

The mullahs sing from the tops of the minarets something that loosely translated, goes:

More frail than ours,
Their precious towers.

You forgot "precious"...

Timrod wrote:

frailer hours
precious flowers

Dylan wrote :

precious hours
frailer flowers

Two or three words might be coincidence, four are certainly not. That would be plagarism - but does anyone really care? More of an homage to an long gone artist he admires more than anything else I should think. Good eyes whomever spotted it...

Where is the line drawn?

U2 did a song called "Gloria". So did Them (Van Morrison on vocals). Them did it about 25 years earlier.

Or when Bono sings "yeah yeah yeah". The Beatles wrote that. ("She loves you yeah yeah yeah").
