My truck was pillaged while out to eat on East Flamingo east of the strip last sunday night. Rack, slings, ATCs, gri gri, TC pros, harness, ClimbTech haulbag all stolen. My fault really for leaving the damn gear in the truck. At least I had the sense to leave the laptop at the hotel or that would be gone as well. I had the gear in the cab where it was locked but the thieves actually crawled through the camper shell and through the beer windows!
Anyway, thought I'd post up in case any Vegas folks hear anything and so I could complain about it! That gear is long gone I realize. Police report was filed and made an insurance claim. Thieves probably did not even realize what they had and it's sitting at the bottom of a dumpster right now. Oh well. Onto new gear and hopefully better karma.

patrick as in patrick from bishop?
Sorry bro. If you need some gear before the insurance gets figured out let me know. I've got plenty in the extra gear bin. As far as insurance goes see if they have a clause that let's you replace all the gear and get full retail value for it instead of them prorating it. When my gear got jacked from my van four years ago my claims adjuster let me know of just such a policy that state farm had. 3,000 worth of gear and tools stolen. I replaced all of it with brand new gear and tools and got a check for the whole 3,000.

Try posting it to the local Vegas climbing community, they know where to look.

That is exactly why I do not buy insurance other than liability. There are no free lunches. The guy who buys insurance and takes care of his gear is subsidizing those who do not take proper precautions. Rule 1, everything goes into the hotel room. I stay at cheap motels off the strip so I can back my car up to the door.

Buy whatever you want. I don't give a crap. If you do buy theft insurance though you have EVERY right as a consumer to take full advantage of what you pay for.
I've never been in a car accident. But when you get in one the insurance company uses my money to pay for your accident. ALL insurance is a subsidy. Let me know if you need anything else cleared up for you.

i agree Beck no free lunches. i knew better than to leave the sh#t in the car but momentary lapse of reason since we went out to eat right after climbing and no stop at hotel beforehand. i filed a claim with my homeowners and they are nit-picking me bigtime on receipts for all the gear and crap like that. it's like they are trying as hard as possible to not give me a dime. we'll see what i get out of the claim if anything. makes me want to drop all insurance and tell them all to F* off.
