From the bullying thread

I am for certain. The relationships i've formed in real life thanks to the taco are simply irreplaceable. I probably never would have met most of the Squamish pioneers were it not for this place, and the cali connections have been awesome.

Not to mention the three or four messages of encouragement every day when i was stuck in a hospital bed. I don't know if i could have kept the positive flame burning trough all the turmoil. I know it faded last winter.. Thanks to supertopo weege gave me a goal to climb with him in the valley this spring. Which motivated me to get off my feeling sorry butt and train!

If i didn't move it, i was gonna lose it. Thanks to all who helped keep me motivated!!

I knew this thread would spin off from that other one.! Thanks Mr E.

Now take Mr E and Skip, two charming, very alive people whom I would probably never have met without the taco. And would we alphabet eaten sushi in the desert overheat? I'm guessing not, though we all had interconnections, I'd met Bloom before, have known he fish since forever, met Roy, Todd Gordon and Tucker, back in the eighties, all this could have come together, in theory. But I doubt it would be the "latticework of coincidence" it is now, any other way...

Great climbing partnerships and hopefully lifelong friends.

An outlet for my philosophizing without having to see the other person's eyes roll back in the head

Coping mechanisms when I'm stressed. A social support system.

A beautiful way to really connect with people, with minds, even if the bodies don't get together that often or even at all.

A sort-of diary from stitching together trip reports, when I wouldn't otherwise be motivated to get it all down

Entertaining stories about climbing and everything else

Seeing Bazillions of funny little comments throughout the day, most of which go unacknowledged but really add a comical spice to life

A sense of belonging to a virtual tribe that is more than that, because it becomes physically real when we reach out and connect

Beta, rubbing shoulders with the rock stars of yesteryear who pioneered the lines on which I've had many a minor epic

And Bah Habah!

Ha ha, well put!
Nutjob and family, another group I might not have met without the taco! Though we have a lot of Berkeley commonality; mostly Tacos though....

Why is it that positive threads get fewer posts? Except for enjoy life.
I think it's because we tend to vent disgruntledness. When you're happy you don't need to talk about it?

Jaybro, very astute observation.

Depression threads actually MULTIPLIED a few weeks back based on one.

It's hard to be specific about how my life as become since the day I registered.

General upward trend, several major declines, a few spikes here and there.

The tao of ST is for me a lamp unto my feet, a beacon unto my eyes, and a metaphor unto my brain.

It's pretty chill here, and folks like "the Mice" from that Zmas package that went astray and came to stay make it like that.

I know a lot of litter and cans would not have been cleaned up in my neck of the woods had I not been exposed to the philosophy of facelifting, some people might not have been helped out, and I'd never have gone to Idaho, Victorville, or Tom's Thumb.

I've shown you all these things, so there's no need to explain further.

But thanks, all of you that have involved yourselves in my life or have been sucked into orbit.

I originally got involved in Facelift in 2007 because of posts on Supertopo - I am very thankful for that.

I recognized my future wife at a Todd Gordon slideshow from Supertopo, I think my first words to her were: "Hi, you're Justthemaid! I'm MisterE!"... which was greeted by an initial blank stare.

I got some work from Salad when I really needed it, and got to spend some time with him and his wonderful family for a few days while working on their place.

I have been to numerous events and gatherings, met many friends and had many laughs because of this forum...

Been inspired and enthralled by the trip reports and stories...

Found connections to my deceased father from his friends here, thanks to all who shared stories...

Cheers, my life is better because of Supertopo!

I got to the first SushiFest because of this place, good enough?

Funny TRs, fabulous pictures, Duck wisdom, smart people, climbers, and dirtbags. How could I be worse off?

How about this: I get to vent my frustrations gathered at work, and from watching the news, on the poli-tard threads. (I had to say it, and you know you sometimes do to!)

I got to meet MisterE. And The Doctor (how the hell is that brother anyway?). Plus a whole coleslaw slew of other fine folks.

Icing: Nita posts here.

Definitely better off. Even though he tried really hard to kill me once, Ghost has been an absolutely stellar guy to get to know and climb with (except when he's trying to kill you). Wayno, Steve and Mimi are also great folks (though I don't know if they'd also want to kill me, given the chance...).

The weird school yard virtual screaming matches and name calling stuff is a little confusing among chronological grown-ups, but by and large, this has been a terrific forum on many levels. I've really appreciated the breadth of experience and perspectives, and figure that--as long as the good climbing content is more heavily weighted than the inane school yard stuff--I'll be hanging out here for a good while longer.

I'm better off for the taco. Virtual friends, real connections. Reconnected a bit with Doug Robinson, BASE104 and others from BITD. After my divorce I was pretty low; the taco helped me get grounded.

Met Gordo and his family among others (cosmic, crimpie, nature and more). Have had the opportunity to go to facelift a few times which I would never have known about.

And then there is locker. Who could go through life without being abused by locker.

Gosh, I think I'm gonna cry. But, seriously, I've reconnected with some old
friends (don't know if the feeling is mutual) and made quite a few new ones.
Still looking forward to meeting Locker and Cosmic.
And I've learned a lot about butthurt, theoretically that is.

Way better off. Many new friends.

Except for locker. Can't unsee what he has done. Lie awake all night arguing with him in my mind.
