I am wondering about the life of Eric jones and does anyone know who might have influenced him to climb and succeed with his life goals? I am doing this research part of a college survey as much help will be brilliant!

I wonder why you are asking this on an American site when you live just over an hour from Tremadog where you could ask Eric himself?

Because Supertopo knows all.
Except me of course. I know little about most things, and less about others.

Does he still own the cafe in Tremadog? I believe that Eric was among the first people to solo the North Face of the Eiger.

As of last september he still owned the cafe, but i think he is trying to sell to move to australia. warmer climates for aching bones. he's got a nice place over there. i look forward to returning.

Tremadog is in a relative rainshadow....at least for Wales. Eric must be in his mid-seventies....I can imagine sunny Australlia must be very enticing.

Eric was there at his Bistro serving climbers when Penelope and I were at Tremadog this May. He told me he just turned 79. First British solo of Eiger North Face. Told me was with Messner on Everest North Side.
