OK, so I am watching a 2009 program on History International called How The Earth Was Made, Yosemite.

Seems to be well researched program, and when they get to the obligatory rock climbing cameo they even made a reference to the North America Wall.
But WTF!!!! The narrator says that El Capitan was once thought impossible to climb, but now it is ascended but "only by a handful of routes".

I shlt you not.

I mean, I know how the flatlanders always get it wrong, but really!
(then it goes on to depict a geologist wailing on some rock near the road with a pick hammer in a way that would earn any tourist a vandalism citation.)

I was watching the game show "The Chase" and it has some Brit with an IQ of 155 on it called the Beast. He tried to explain that crampons are some pointy metal device that rock climbers use to grip into rock. And here I was thinking we used sticky rubber this whole time.
