I am watching it again tonight with my kids and Herbie is racing to Yosemite and he went through Chinese Camp and obviously stopped by Coilers for repairs.

Locker,

I was referring to the 1968 movie starring Buddy Hackett.

Must have been '69. I drove a date to that movie. Wouldn't have been old enough to do that in '68.

The credits say'68. I just found it amusing because the car broke down near Chinese Camp and a bunch of chinese people came out and carried the car to get repairs. I could picure a bunch of rock monkeys from Coiler's house coming out and doing the same thing. Nowadays the movie would be considered racist.

Ok. That says limited Dec 24, 1968 in USA.

Full release (USA) Mar 1969.

It does not mention Canada, but I saw it in the summer in Ontario, in 1969.

In the new movie, Herbie Fully Loaded, the mechanic guy wears a Yosemite T-shirt in a scene as an homage to the original.
