Jennie and I are watching the very silly Eurovision Contest, but it is curious that most of the contestants sing their songs in English. The 12 finalists, from among Russia and Sweden, to Azerbaijan and Malta, (Ireland lost out in the qualifiers), they all have songs in English.

Much to the chagrin of the French, the former international language, I’d imagine.

I love French, I have lived and worked in France. And I know the Spanish language.

But English is defintiely the international language. Not to discount Chinese, Indian an other languages, of course. I mean there are a billion Chinese, and a billion people in India.

Imagine, that little island (of some very bigotted people, I lived there for seven years) loaning their language to the world. Though of course, English is a Germanic language, with a lot of influence from Normans and French, and Latin, and...

Some transvestite just won the Eurovision, don't know if she/he is transgender. Beard and a nice chiffon gown.

It's a new world.

Glad I am just a normal person. Wait, what the hell is a normal person?

EDIT

Jaybro, I only sweat perspiration.

I just have the feeling I am going to regret starting this thread. But I won't nuke it.

I am just having fun after watching the silly Eurovision contest. I mean, it made ABBA, can't be all that bad. Eh?

What is a continent?

Europe is not, though geopolitically it is. But really, it is just an appendage of the Asian land mass.

Some geographers think that North America and South America are one continent. With the isthmus of Panama the connection.

By that reckoning, Africa and Asia are one, as the Sinai does connect Asia to Africa. Doesn't it?

Australia, well, it is definitely it's own continent. And Antarctica.

But we all know that California is its own planet, especially those of us born there. Blow-ins are accepted, with reservation.
