The North American Climbing History Archives (NACHA) and the City of Oakdale are pleased to announce the third Oakdale Climbers Festival happening October 17-19, 2014 in Oakdale, California.
The theme for 2014 is: A Woman's Reach- Adventures in a Parallel Realm.
We will be taking a diverse look at women's climbing history with speakers from several generations coming to share their perspective and experiences.
The tentative speakers list for our third Festival includes:

We are still waiting for confirmation from more amazing women so this promises to be yet another extraordinary historical gathering.
On Friday evening we will celebrate the 36th anniversary of the successful 1978 American Women's Himalayan Expedition which achieved the first American ascent of mighty Annapurna by Irene Beardsley and Vera Komarkova supported by Sherpas Mingma Tsering and Chewang Ringjing. Several members of the expedition are going gather to reflect on this grand and momentous adventure after we have the pleasure of watching Dyanna Taylor's excellent documentary film.
Please put our dates down on your calendar and plan on coming to join in the fun.
The Festival is held at the Gene Bianchi Community Center 110 South 2nd Avenue Oakdale, CA 95361
The festival will run from 6-10pm on Friday, 10am- 10pm on Saturday and 10am- 4pm on Sunday.
More details will be forthcoming as we firm up the roster.
Tickets are $25 if you preregister and will be $30 the week before the Festival.

If you notify us a week ahead of the event, tickets are transferable once purchased to allow someone else to claim your tickets under the name that you provide.

Edit: Going thru Oakdale on the way back from CO Yerian ran into Ramona (did I get it right?) in a favorite Taco Shoppe parking lot, she pulled up and said howdy and was so excited about the next event. Special Gal, great memory, cheers to the event.

the middle of October is prime time in the Valley...
carving out those precious days is a part of the "value proposition" calculation that changes from youthful to "well seasoned" climber;
and so it should be.

Nice theme. I heard Lynn Hill gave a great talk for Stanford last weekend. Too bad she can't attend, but the line up seems great!
November or December would be a better time for the event. October is great for climbing during the weekends. :)

In marketing, a customer value proposition (CVP) consists of the sum total of benefits which a vendor promises a customer will receive in return for the customer's associated payment (or other value-transfer).
Customer Value Management was started by Ray Kordupleski in the 1980s and discussed in his book, Mastering Customer Value Management. A customer value proposition is a business or marketing statement that describes why a customer should buy a product or use a service. It is specifically targeted towards potential customers rather than other constituent groups such as employees, partners or suppliers. We're sorry Miss Hill cannot attend. We believe you will not miss her by attending. Rather, we feel that you may drive home from Oakdale, should you decide to attend, charmed by the rest of our speakers in the program and, who knows, even more stoked about climbing than you are at present.
Many of us who have heard of your short, meteoric career would also like to meet you and speak with you about your life. So, the proposition is there, the factors to calculate gain/loss are apparent, and we hope you make a wise decision. If we do not see you at the festival, YUR SURELY GONNA DIE!

The dates in October are firm and as late in the year as possible since we had folks chased over Tioga Pass by storms for the last two years with the Festival happening one week later.
The desirability of being around Yosemite in October is one of the contributing factors to our choice. We want people around to attend and want the venue to be attractive enough that speakers are easily persuaded to be in the area if they are planning on climbing.
Whether you feel compelled to attend is up to you, of course. All we can do is offer you an attractive entertainment option.

Larry- We aren't set up to sell tickets just yet and I will certainly announce availability once we are.
The Community Center can handle 1000 so we won't be short on space for a while. LOL

Mouse, I would CERTAINLY be super happy to meet you and everyone else who is coming. Steve has a good point about Tioga pass. If it is closed all the people from the East side wouldn't be able to attend. Now I get it. Will do my best to make it out this year! Love it when positive people (hopefully) gather and talk about things they love doing or did.

Will be there fur shure. Can't wait to see Irene Beardsley. This was a gift to Ferretlegger upon her return from Annapurna.
