Let's get this party started!

All I can say is this dumb Mercan really wish he could take up residence in Canmore permanently...

Probably should taken up that offer from the cougar encounter I had at that café in Canmore one morning over coffee and oatmeal. Oh well Live and Learn. Hedge fund manager and all and I just kept walking like no time gotta climb see you later girls are stupid ice is good!

Erik,

First one is Beowulf

Second is professors..

We got screwed by high avy conditions and had to choose objectives accordingly. We ended up doing mostly moderate climbs but man what a great time we had!

Gotta get back and start ticking off the stuff you lay awake at night dreaming about..

Mal,

Nice a contribution!

Polar Circus above, nice...

Snow conditions would not allow us to go near it :(

I'll be back!

ice is where it's at, and Canmore is where the ice is

Sh#t would you look at that.

I only started ice climbing a small handful of years ago but I suspect that is a Gore onesie? And if so this pic was taken somewhere between 1985 and 1995?

Unbelievably, there was a time I thought the NE Face of Hungabee was an appealing objective. This is August 1981, Connie Tobia (RIP) wearing an original Scumbag pile jacket in the foreground.

Yes it is..

I had the same experience last year in the Rockies as I did when I was a 19 year old pot smoking slacker and fell into a free trip to the big island if Hawaii. I spent that whole vacation trying to figure out how I was never going home!

Clearly I went home :(

Off White:

That's a whole different kinda balls than what I'm doing clearly.

Wish I could find people to do that kinda stuff. I live on the wrong coast but if I could find the mid be stoked!

More pictures you must have them ;)

Great pics Sanskara. I've only been to Alberta once before the digital age, so I'd have to find those printed picture things and scan them. Better idea would be to go back. F*#king beautiful up there.

If you are ever up for a trip get in touch with me and we can talk.

I am always looking to take trips and most of my regular partners are pretty restricted or have different objectives than I do. At most they take one trip a year in the summer and it's more alpine stuff with long walks and easy rock climbing.

I much prefer to spend my time climbing hard ice and rock or if I am gonna do something alpine in nature something like Slipsteam comes to mind and non of my partners want anything to do with that. I don't wonder why but different stokes for different folks!

Lol, I have never and have no desire to ice climb. Enjoy the pics though. Them mountains are steep, went snowboarding up there.

Haha no desire to ice climb. Funny that's a common reaction. I did notice lots of snowboarders up there. I skied and boarded growing up and no longer have the desire to do either.

However if I lived in the Rockies I think I might change my mind on that one..

Sick thread Sanskara.

I like the pics. Who's got some Rockies rock pics? Is there rock there? Or is it just piles of stones that freeze together in winter with intermittent crags reserved for the domain of the bolt clipping poofter?

I'd like to be convinced that it's worth driving east of the bugs someday. Help!!!!

Oh & a ? For you Sanskara: What makes this thread "official"? Are you saying the other 20,000 odd threads here are "unofficial"?

Edit- thisjustin & myself would make a great ice climbing team.
