The December issue of IDAHO Magazine includes a longish story by me on climbing & hanging with the old guys at City of Rocks last June. At age 64, it is unusual for me to be among the youngest member of a group of active climbers.

The photo is of Nick Houser on Bloody Fingers.

The "old-guys" included Jim Donini age 70, Ralph Tingey-age 70, & Broke-Down Climber, age 74. Phenomenal people, and each & all are an inspiration to be around! We did have ST regular Ezra Ellis along as the token "young-buck."

Here's a link to "a teaser" start to the article. The full article is also available for a very modest fee.

It's a really-fun story with lots of photos at City of Rocks.

This isn't one of the story photos.

Donini starting Funky Bolt in 2011, with Fritz (needlessly) belaying him.

Ray....loved the story. The tiltle indicates that you were well aware that the mantra "going big" was meant in a relative (very relative) sense. In your description of me the "wrinkles" are simply a visual manifestation of my skin becoming too big for my body.

The "silver hairs", too funny. When you've become a "blue hair" you're done.....hope to meet some day on your home turf Fritz, thanks for posting.

A great weekend with the senior citizens. More of the crowd:

And a senior citizen on the rocks:
