Noam Chomsky slaps down 9/11 truther
By Eric W. Dolan
Monday, November 25, 2013 10:22 EST
"There happen to be a lot of people around who spend an hour on the Internet and think they know a lot physics, but it doesn’t work like that."
"There is just overwhelming evidence that the Bush administration wasn’t involved,” Chomsky added. “Very elementary evidence. You don’t have to be a physicist to understand it. You just have to think for a minute.”

Well, that's sort of what he is saying, anyway.

Brings up an interesting question. Are 911 truthers mostly on the left or is there a healthy balance there?

He's not stupid for not wanting to get involved though. Could it be that his denial is his own false flag? Life is so complicated! Maybe he should be interrogated and tortured to see what he really believes!

Been a Chomsky reader since hearing about the guy through Jello Biafra's spoken word days…
There is the reality… And then there is the "news/Official" story of that reality..
Chomsky sorts it all...

Not an in depth discussion at all.
He completely avoids the question, what happened to Building 7. Another case of bury your head in the sand. The questioner presented the case of a group of 2000 architect and engineers and he responded there are only a minuscule number who doubt the evidence given to us.
I'm not saying I side with any side but Chomsky doesn't appear to have spent much time on this topic. Of course he's not interested and that's fine and also very much in the majority as Dr. F implies that the majority is usually in possession of the truth.

I don't know DMT, you tell me? Just curious. I just noticed that some posters here that love Obama and are also fans of Chomsky, so just wondering what they make of Chomsky not liking Obama. He has called Obama an Imperialist. I though that was reserved for the "war mongering" Conservatives

Yep Obama's positions tend to be a bit right of Reagan.
I'm a Chomsky fan overall but wonder why he tells us to leave the architecting and engineering to the peer reviewed journals but question other stuff?
I would suspect because that is the best way people have yet devised to disseminate accurate useful technical information. If my pysics 101 and 102 courses taught me anything it is that physics (and it's applications in engineering) is not at all simple or common sense.

Dingus, give me a break. I know you can read and have been on this site for a while, you really expect me to believe you don't know who some of these people are. It is very easy. Just go to a thread where people are praising or protecting Obama from being criticized then go back to this one. If you really care you can do the work.

Yes, Chomsky is expected to be well prepared with technical repsonses to audience questions, or he gets accused of sidestepping.

It would be nice if such a thing existed where real researchers had access to all pertinent government and private documentation. History or Poli-sci is not much of a hard science in comparison to engineering. I would imagine there are some peer reviewed poli-sci articles on the subject.
However I don't think it's too difficult to come to a fairly accurate conclusion that the Bush admin used (not created) 911 in order to drum up support for the 2nd Iraq war. Exactly why those in the Bush admin wanted this so desperately is harder to understand. It would have helped a great deal if Bush had been impeached as then we might have gotten a solid investigation.
Perhaps in several decades researchers will have access to the info necessary to begin to understand.
