it's all in the title.

as far as i can tell, the thread wasn't scrubbed due to johnkelley killing the first post.

the whole thread is gone, including any record of anybodies posts to the thread.

i get the structural roots to the imperial supertopo prerogative, but assuming this was due to the powers that be, a quick acknowledgement and say a one line explanation for the reasons behind the thread rendition would be mucho appreciado...

Chris Mac sent me an email saying it was deleted. He said "we're not the place to air the dispute".

I guess the ethics of dispensing climbing grant money have no place here?

"We're not the place to air dispute"

What a joke, that's pretty much all that goes down on this site.

Ohhhhhh it's only not cool if the dispute actually involves climbing.

Gotcha.

What was just a simple venting has now become somewhat more interesting...

... advertisers, grant committees, and climbing politics walk into the room.

Considering that the last post I saw was by John Frieh, and the thread disappeared shortly after that, my guess is there was some threat of legal action.

Too bad. I'd like to hear more of this story. Was getting interesting.

I'd love to here Frieh's side of it. What did he say anyway?

It's probably stashed somewhere on Google. Anyone got a link? I never even looked at it, now I want to!

I have the utmost respect for Chris Mac, but this is total bullsh#t.

SuperTopo IS the place to air these grievances. We're all f*#king adults here. Grow some goddamn balls.

John: To be honest, I really didn't like the way you approached the situation you're in. Now I think that someone's trying to f*#k you over.

Chris is right in what he did. I'd actually self-nuke THIS thread if I was the OP.

johnkelley, Frieh said you had edited some of the emails you posted and did not include others.

"We're not the place to air dispute"

So where is the logic in this when the republicans wrong thread keeps going, and going and going, and going?

What about the climbing down thread going for thousands of posts?

WTF?

edit: if legal actions come into it I can somewhat understand, but would like to know the legal details behind it.

Nope no editing. Sure there were more but those were after he had already applied for the grants.

These issues have been argued in court and Chris Mac/SuperTopo is NOT liable for what is posted by individuals. See the dirty.com lawsuits if you're interested. Only the OP is liable if slander is involved.

Not much in the google cache, just the 1st 2 posts:

edit: in case google cache disappears, the OP:

Lie, cheat, and steal anything goes with climbing grants

Is it cool to lie, cheat, and steal in order to secure funding through climbing grants? Is it legal for a grant applicant to use your photos without your permission or knowledge for their direct financial gain. If it's blatantly obvious that the applicant is using stolen photos is it legal, and or ethical, for those funding the grant (s) to ignore those facts?

btw, nice timing posting @ 4:20 pm, jk :)

Case in point why the thread should NOT have been nuked.

I'm guessing that concerns around this subject were involved? Its expressly forbidden on many forums, though not specifically addressed in Supertopo's terms of service.
