Anyone own one of the newer climbing treadmills? I always liked training on the original versions (the ones with car tires) but they always seemed to break down. It would be about the only thing I would have space for in our Washington flat. Curious.

15 years ago my gym had one. I don't remember the brand but you could
change the angle to waay overhanging and change the resistance to make it
go faster. It was pretty damn nice and it was mine as hardly anyone else
used it. I could get on it for hours. When I started changing the holds
the retards came unglued like it was gonna result in a lawsuit or something.
They got rid of it cause it took up the space of 4-6 other machines the
normal retards could use.

Dingus, these are the things I'm thinking about.

My gym, 24 hour fitness, use to have one. They got rid of it due to lack of anyone another than me using it. I loved that thing. I'd change it to just where I wanted it Marty, and it would be months till someone else would change it to something else. I could flip it back fairly fast though. Dudes would be waiting 3 deep for the Nautilus curl machine and there would be no lines to get on the Treadwall. What Dingus says about injuries is worth considering. In a gym, I'd be good and warmed up first, and limit my useage too. You can make it overhang, and in conjunction with small holds, you can burn out your tendons quickly.

There was a waist belt you tied on and as you climbed higher the machine would spin to keep pace. Wish they still have it. I think they were @ $12,000 new back then, and they need a lot of headspace as well.

Just got off one.....six days in Cochise, another two at Granite Mtn. and finishing up with three days in Sedona. Off every morning and back every afternoon too late to utilize the sunshower....it was hell I tell you.

I had a Versaclimber...very smooth action using a hydraulic pump operating with oil....but oh so boring....I think Donini has a better idea. The rock is constantly changing your view, interesting crystals, colors, strata, and dikes while a painted wall is just plain boring.
