I have been looking for a decent pair of approach shoes that fit a wide foot. My EEE feet have ruined countless shoes before their time by splitting the seams; some only after a few outings. Does anyone have the same problem or suggestions? I was thinking of a pair of Dunhams but I have never used that brand before.

You know what they say about a man with big feet........

Hah, they said big, not square!

I have the same problem only worse. I am a size 7 EEEE. I haven't any found approach shoes either. Instead I go to a quality running shoe store and buy running shoes. Some of the Asics come in EE and EEEE and are indeed wide. They aren't as sticky but they sure are comfortable.

I have used NB trail runners in the past but they are a little sloppy.

New Balance "all terrain" cross-trainers (in 4E width) are one of the few shoes that work well for me, so I tend to buy two pairs at a time. Not sticky rubber nor close-fitting so they're no fun on steep rock, but the tread's mix of hard and soft elements seems to work well for other off-trail conditions (wet grass, gravel, talus etc.).

I just won a pair of Sportiva's Cirque Pro approach shoes in that Rock and Ice "golden ticket" contest. A reviewer claimed they worked for wide feet, so I look forward to trying those out.

My feet are wide...maybe not THAT wide...

I've had good luck stretching out the La Sport Exums. I seam grip the bulging areas (and stitching), which helps keep my little toes from popping out.

Have been wearing the Nike Teewinot II's. They seem ok.

I find that any pair of 5.10's every made are too wide for me, if that helps.

I wear an 8 EEE. Have been wearing the 5.10 guide for about a year now and not lacing them up tight or tying them unless necessary. The toe box opens up pretty well and my wide foot makes them stay on pretty well untied. It the going gets tough I will tie them on for security.
The seams are just starting to show distress and I expect they will blow out before fall. Especially if I get in a bunch of talus or crack climb in them. But the dots on the tread are almost worn through so it was a good run.

Another note for new balance. 800 series, lots of good stuff in a variety of styles from light trail runner to fairly legit approach shoe. Rubber is indeed not super sticky, but it's not bad.

EEEE NB's are mega-wide, start with the EE.
