Having grown up in Compton my friends call me reverse racist, or pro black. I think I'm objective, of course. lol But, I did enjoy these three talking heads' comments. They were civil and friendly and all made good points. In the end I do think that an employee just can't talk to you like that, no way, no how. I also tend to think giving someone over a 1/4 million dollars because of a comment that is made to them is a bit whacky. Can an employer please call me whatever you want and give me a 1/4 million? Please, please? :)

Ummm, just so you don't confuse people who casually look at this thread but don't read the link (I din't read the link, but know the basic story), here's an important point:
The user of the "n-word" is black!

For 280k, you can call me anything you want, however many times you want.

We have known for a long time now that the politically correct crowd traditionally targets Whites for using the "N " word.

Now we know that they are going to start targeting Blacks as well.

LOL . You gotta love that irony.

It's not about right or wrong to these people.
It's all about power...and money.

In employment law, the race or gender of the offender really doesn't matter. If a jury is convinced that a supervisor was outrageously offensive to a worker (or another worker was outrageously offensive, and not immediately drawn and quartered by management), the employer with the deep pockets is liable.

The chances of winning on some of those suits are little better than having the Publisher's Clearing House Prize Patrol show up on your doorstep, but the payoff can be rather large. If a jury gets angry enough, rationality disappears. That's why an ad for a legal publishing company showed a jury box with the caption "Logic has its limits."

I read the article at the link and can honestly say that the verdict was not based only on the N word, rather it was a pattern and practice of demeaning treatment by a supervisor. Of course that would not make such a juicy headline.
