I even set aside a pack with all my ice climbing gear, ready to be shipped down if/when I actually make it. :)

I have a Brooks, but I have found this Stella SMP, with a complete cut-away is more comfortable and less numbing of my privates on those long days. :)

Yeehaw. Sounds like a fun trip.
Can you share any more details about the bike and what kind of repair tools & supplies you will carry for on the road fixes?

Looks good. Last year a young man rode a totally beater bike from Buenos Aires all the way to the Potrero Chico in Northern Mexico to climb for a couple of months.

Two and a half weeks into it now. Dropped into the Amazon basin this morning in pouring rain. Wore a poncho, cycling shorts, and flipflops. Ha. Everything soaked but warm enough. Tomorrow I have a 5500 foot climb over 30 kilometers, (with my 100 lb vehicle) back up into the mountains at Pasto. Then two days to Ecuador. Everything has been going smoothly so far - with the exception of getting pick pocketed in Bogota. I didn't need that damn IPod anyway. Ha

If you are in Patagonian Chile Dec. thru Feb. stop by for some good food, shower and.....adventure. We are just off of the Carretera Austral on Lago General Carrera, the most beautiful lake you'll ever see.
